Wow

February 14th, 2009

It has been since September since my last post. The only excuse that I have is that I have joined Facebook and I find that takes up a lot of my time. Oh, that and work. And feeling sorry for myself.

I have a cold during the busiest time of work for me. That sucks. I need all my energy, yo!

Anyway…I’ll be out of town from Feb 23-Mar 23 for work…that’s a little intense…a whole month. But I love the projects and am excited to get going on the local casting. But still! A month?

Next time I’m in Sacramento, it will be for a hot 24 hours for Bayliss’ wedding. Hope to see all you peeps there! xoxo

September

September 15th, 2008

Whew! What a whirlwind month it has been. Had an absolute blast in Sacramento. Did get a wee bit distracted reconnecting with an old friend. But, hey, isn’t that what life is about? Friends and family, I will be much more available and less crazed next visit, I swear. :)

Since then, we’ve really started full blast on “Love and Other Impossible Pursuits.” We have callbacks for the kid this week, and I’m putting together the breakdown for the other roles. It’s a terrific script and not overwhelming in terms of dayplayers, so it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Living in the new apartment really is everything and more. I’ve lost about ten pounds and certainly not by working out or dieting. I just walk everywhere. I’m trying to add in some gym time this week and see how that works out. Also…I think I need to detox a little bit.

On that note, I’m sitting at the Greensboro airport, waiting for my delayed flight back to New York. It’s very early so I’m tempted to finish this post and curl up homeless style on the floor and crash for a bit.

I went to North Cackolacky to visit Ryan Hill, recent transplant. God, we had a blast. On Saturday, Ryan had made reservations for us to get massages and afterwards we went to get pedicures. There was a nail salon just down the lane from the massage parlor, and it was a trip. Brand new, bring you a glass of wine…type place. And they had karaoke. That’s right, Ryan and I sang karaoke while they did our toes! It was a bit surreal.

Afterwards, we drove to Raleigh to see my friend Grant’s concert. I had really wanted to introduce Grant and Ryan as I thought they would enjoy each others company. The concert was beautiful…West Side Story dance suite with an 80+ orchestra! And Dvorak’s “From the New World” which was just fantastic. After the concert, we went out to dinner with Grant and Scott Freck, the general manager of the Symphony and Scott’s wife, Leslie. It was lovely.

After that, we decided to go back to Grant’s and have a glass of wine as it was still pretty early. OMG. It was hilarious. What wasn’t hilarious was how I felt the next day. Why do I think I can keep up drinking with a Welshman? Jesu.

But overall, I think Grant and Ryan hit it off and I also got to talk to Grant and make some sense out of a mess that I had gotten myself into. Sometimes, all you need, is a little perspective.

Anyway, I’m about to lay my head down to rest…more later!

Sacramento Part 2

September 2nd, 2008

Sacramento was fun, fun fun!!! FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN.

But crazy.

Sacramento trip part 1

August 31st, 2008

Well, it sure started off with a bang.

Or, it all seemed to be going so well. I left a relatively easy day at work with plenty of time to arrive at JFK a full hour before my flight departed at 7:30pm. I did not plan on checking any luggage, so this almost bordered on excessive.

Or so I thought. The normally reliable E train was FUCKED. And it got fucked in Queens, which meant that I had no idea if I could get a car service or taxi if I ventured out of the train. I got above ground at the Air Train stop at 7:02. I initially tried to sign on to Jet Blue.com to check in online, but you have to do that 90 minutes prior to flight, not 27 minutes before. Then I called and tried to see if they could check me in manually via phone. I know, I know, this was stupid to attempt, but I was desperate. I started thinking about what I would do when I missed my flight, coming up with plan b and c.

I arrived at the jet blue terminal at 7:14 pm and ran to the kiosk as the woman on the phone had instructed me to do. Of course, I got the slip of paper telling me to check with the attendant. He straight up told me it was impossible to get on the flight, that it was closed. I burst out in a hysterical crying fit, begging him to help me. I mean, for god’s sake, you would have thought I was escaping genocide in Rwanda, not leaving the city I love for a baby shower. That was on Saturday. Today was Wednesday.

He told me to cut it out, mentioned that I could possibly fly to Ontario, CA and take a taxi to Sacramento. I mean, come on, that was so stupid I nearly dropped the tears and said to him “That would be like saying why don’t you fly to North Carolina and take a taxi to Manhattan. But I didn’t. I hadn’t given up on my Sacramento flight. I mean, it was now 7:20….I had ten minutes to convince them for god’s sake.

Had to go down the desk to the woman to see if I could even be booked on any flight to the west coast. I’m still sobbing and basically immediately started begging her to help me get on the flight.

Impossible?? IMPOSSIBLE??? DON’T TELL ME WHAT’S F-ING IMPOSSIBLE, YOU GEOGRAPHICALLY CHALLENGED NITWIT!

I was on the flight. In an aisle seat, with no one in the center seat. Big legroom section of the plane. My seatmate and I drank for free the entire flight because Catherine and Sam, our stewards, recognized that I had been traumatized and felt that they should turn my jet blue experience around.

Ugh! How do you add media???? I just pressed the buttons that say “add media,” Uploaded a bunch of bizness and now nothing is here.

I hate life.

Sacramento trip and HELP

August 12th, 2008

So I will be arriving in Sacratomato on the night of August 27th, and ready to go to breakfast with someone Thursday morning. I am not planning on renting a car this trip…but I bet I’ll buckle after one day of not being independent.

Here are the current plans:
1. To hang out with Guinnie and Commander Plaza. We have some important stuff to talk about and I think our meetings should be a priority.
2. To attend the baby-shower of my sister-in-law Megan Rogers Canfield. Oh wait. That’s actually the impetus for my entire trip. That should probably have come first. Okay, but its not until Saturday, so it seems like its okay if it comes later.
3. See my sister and my nephew Baz.
4. Sunday, I’m going to the Bay Area to see my friend’s show at 2pm, then an old friend Leanne’s house for a party in the evening. She has said…the more the merrier…so let’s go hang!
5. To see everyone else as much as possible.

Can we start planning some stuff? Or is everyone in Sac too cool to realize that time is precious and should be savored in the company of friends?

Smiles, Sunshine and oh crap, I need to go teach a class that starts in five minutes!

Good News!

August 12th, 2008

So, hopefully this won’t mess with my trip to Sacramento, but our movie finally got greenlit yesterday! I start work today on a new film. The director wrote and directed The Opposite of Sex and is really cool. We had a great meeting and I’ve been chomping at the bit for it to start. It’s finally here!

Hoorah!

AUGUST

August 7th, 2008

Pictures are coming very very soon of the new place. Sunday is our housewarming party and there will definitely be pictures from them.

Other updates: my play went very well although the experience was a nightmare. Too much work. I almost had a nervous breakdown. Please feel free to check out our production photos. I think they turned out pretty cool: http://gallery.me.com/jwphotonyc#100055

Now I’m trying to take it easy, but my mother is here and we have been working around the clock. And I have a lot of social responsibilities because I ignored my friends for two months. So, not quite time to relax yet, but soon.

Oh, I am coming to Sacramento from August 28-September 2. On Sunday the 31st, Leanne is going to have a party in the bay area at her beautiful house. She told me to tell everyone the more the merrier! Sara, it would be amazing if you could come home!!!!

Oh- as I was recovering from my near nervous breakdown, I thought long and hard about the Jordan Smith of it all. And here is where I’m at: I don’t feel so upset about the whole thing anymore. Not that I’m cool with him at all, but I’m not freaked if I see him or anything. Deep down, I feel like the person that I thought I knew doesn’t really exist, and it was very painful to realize that…but now, I guess I’ve buried it, because I don’t really care anymore. He sucks, but I’m not afraid of seeing him or anything. So, if you are having a cocktail party, you don’t have to worry about me causing a scene. I could care less.

It’s so not worth the drama, I guess, is my realization.

Anyway, I love and miss you all and want you all to come visit me in NYC!

Moving

June 30th, 2008

Hi all,

On the update front: Still not pregnant.

I’m taking July off because I’m directing a play and I have no life and now I’m moving! I got an amazing apartment in CHELSEA! 25th and 8th Avenue. It is a walk up, but it is a three bedroom and Jack and I are going to live with our friend Liz….and our rent is actually going to be cheaper than INWOOD! WHAT???

I’m also going to be living next door to one of my best friends in the world, Esther Ammon. She’s the one who hooked me up with the apartment. I am so happy. Work is now a mere five minutes away via subway. I can walk to work.

So, so, so excited.

Coming to Sacramento this weekend!

June 2nd, 2008

Hello everyone! I’m coming to Sacramento this weekend! I have a baby shower Saturday morning but am free Saturday night. Does anyone want to go out to dinner? Or something else that is fun?
