Travels and Travails

Whew!!!!  Just returned last week from a full two-week casting trip to the illustrious cities, Memphis and Nashville.  The casting was terrible, the barbeque was delicious and I think I gained ten pounds.

Seriously, everything is cooked with so much butter there that it seemed impossible to get a healthy meal.  Here in New York we hear so much about obesity and it feels like such an unhealthy choice that people are making.  Then you venture out into the United States and see that it is less of a choice for other people.  Basically, if you want to eat healthy in the south, you need to cook at home.  And live in Nashville, where they at least have a Wild Oats (like a Whole Foods.)

I tried the “Master Cleanse” when I got home.  Basically it is a fast where all you drink is this lemonade made with maple syrup and cayenne pepper.  The first day I did great!  Made it through easily; slight headache from lack of caffeine.  Second day I developed an aversion to the lemonade and gave up.  Have you ever had that happen?  I was practically gagging while I drank the lemonade.  Weird.  So, I had to give up.  Now I am just trying to eat really healthy and get more than my usual amount of excercise, which this weekend meant two long rounds of the dusty Dance Dance Revolution.  It rocked.

One of my New Years Resolutions was to start match.com in an effort to meet men.  I’ve been talking to many men on the site via email and AIM Messenger.  I went on one date.  While the date was not awful, it was pretty depressing.  The guy was nice enough, but there definitely was a lack of attraction on both sides.  The next day he emailed me and let me know he felt the same way.  I felt that was unnecessary but didn’t really care either way.

Depressing!

But, I can hardly be bothered because I am really busy.  I’m glad I lazed around this weekend because I am heading into an extremely busy time.  I teach over the weekend coming up in Boston.  Then I head to Boston for another audition conference.  It’s going to be a fun spring!
