Recents

So I had my doctor’s appointment on Tuesday and it was a tad disappointing.  I love my doctor, but she is a general practitioner and not an ob/gyn.  She does my yearly exams, so I was hoping that there would be more crossover.  She did make a suggestion, that she was very excited about…so I have my first appointment with my new guy on February 4.

OMG- I just looked out the window to see snow falling.  BRB.  Gotta check to see if my flight will be able to leave Boston!

Whew!  It says it is on time.

Anyway, having a fun evening tonight where I am going to cook fajitas and some of my friends are going to come over and we will be looking at donors online to help me narrow down my choice!  There are a lot of dudes out there who have donated.  Now I have to pick my babydaddy.

On another note, I fucking LOVE Apple.  Yesterday, as I left lunch and walked to my seminar at Boston Conservatory, I tripped on an uneven part of the street and basically threw my iphone onto the sidewalk.  From the sound, I knew it was done.  Sure enough, when I picked it up, it was shattered.  I felt numb.

But then I thought about it.  I had impulsively bought the 4gb, and had not bought any protective gear for it, so it had a few tiny scratches.  I had been thinking about the possibility of upgrading, especially when I watched a short program on it recently and would maybe put a movie on it for when I’m on the airplane.  It would be great to have more memory for that.

So, I was actually rather calm and just asked my friends whether there was a mac store in Boston.  Balele was with me, and he said there absolutely was and would take me there between dinner and the end of my seminar.

We got to the mall and found the store.  I walked up to the first guy wearing the adorable teal t-shirt that indicated he was an employee at the store.  With a sad face, I showed him my shattered phone and said that I needed a new one.  I was fully expecting to just buy a new one.

Anyway, long story short.  They didn’t have any 4gbs to switch it out with, so they said they would switch it with an 8 and just charge me the difference.  Again, remember that I was totally prepared to pay the full price for the new 8.  I mean, I threw the damn machine in the street…that isn’t usually covered by a warrantee (I can’t spell that shit) that I didn’t buy anyway!

So, they changed my phone number over to the new phone for me, while I searched for the perfect protective cover and crystal sheets that go over the glassy face.

They gave me the new phone and then I went to the check out to find out how much it would cost.  The guy had initially thought that it would be about 250, so with my 100 voucher, I thought What A deal!

So I gave the cashier my voucher and he rang it up.  (I had already purchased the cover.)  He then said, $5 please!

WTF!  5 dollars!  So, I walked out of that store after twenty minutes with a brand new iphone 8 gb for 5 dollars!  Okay, 105, since I had to use my voucher.  But seriously!???  THAT IS GREAT SERVICE.

Especially since I basically walked in there and said, I need to buy an 8 gb since I accidentally threw my 4 gb in the street and it shattered!  Any corporate greedy establishment would not have helped me realize that I could still get credit for my damaged phone!  NUTS!

All right, here we go!

I have a lot of terrific things in my life.  I love my career, have an amazing family and group of friends and two adorable puppies.  I even have a man in my life that I truly enjoy.  (He’s really hot….and a terrific, good, smart man.)

There is only one thing that I’m missing and it is an important part of the life that I planned for myself.  I have made the decision this year to pursue motherhood.

I’m 34 years old and it’s time to start.  So, I’m starting!

Tuesday, I have an appointment to talk to my doctor about getting started.  I’m going to purchase sperm from a sperm bank, and she will tell me what organization she suggests that I use.  Luckily, my friend has done the same thing and is already pregnant!  The organization that she used actually ships all over the country and can be used from New York.  New York apparently has stronger restrictions than most states.

Once I choose the organization, I then ’shop’ for the donor.  I’ve looked at some of the descriptions and it is really interesting.  It tells you everything!  And you can even get baby pictures.  Most of the literature actually says that you can know more genetically about the sperm donor than you might about your partner!

To be ready for this process, I’m thinking about what is most important to me.  I thought about possibly having an Asian donor, because I think Asian babies are so adorable.  Jack had a big issue with this as he thinks its going to be hard enough to grow up without a father…so I should pick someone who has similar coloring to me, so the baby looks like me.
Anyway…this is my plan and I’m very excited about getting started!

Upcoming travels

Well, I continue on my plan to head out of town every weekend until I don’t know when! I went to Washington DC this weekend and had the pleasure of seeing BFFS David and Robb and also meeting Matthew! Yes, that’s right…Tom and Margaret’s adorable bundle of joy. He is truly beautiful and very sweet-natured…with a sly smile.

Friday morning I fly to North Carolina to do my annual seminar with the graduating seniors of NCSA. Next weekend I fly to Boston, to do my annual seminar with the graduation seniors at Boston Conservatory.

Too much!

The following weekend, I fly to Sacramento to attend my friend Leanne’s wedding. Hopefully I will also be able to see Mr. Guinness and my fam who still lives in Sac. Here’s hoping!

Big Plans

The first week back from vacation was pretty uneventful.  The biggest moment was when I looked at my calendar and realized that I am traveling every weekend from now until February 4.  JESU!

I am also seeing three plays and one movie in the course of four days so you know my brain is fried.

Interesting question:  When Jack was coming back from Cabo, he had purchased a bottle of Don Julio Tequila for a present at the duty free shop.  When he was going through customs at LAX, the security guy took the bottle because of the ‘no liquids’ law.

Ummm….what the fuck?

See, I also had purchased a bottle of Don Julio at duty free and traveled safely with it my entire trip.  Yes, it was in my carry-on.  Which of course, it HAD TO BE.  Since I bought it at Duty Free.  Those stores are past the safety checks in the airport, so of course, your bag is already checked!

He had a very tight connection and had to be rushed through the first class line.  I think the security guy realized that he wouldn’t have time to argue or call a manager so he stole the bottle.  I mean, how else do the duty free stores survive?  You have to be able to take sealed duty free stuff onboard or they wouldn’t be able to sell alcohol!

Oh shit- I’m supposed to go to brunch in five minutes!  More later!
